I'm rather curious about "The Productive Programmer" obviously sounds a lot like "The Pragmatic Programmer" (one of my favorite books) does it add much?

Wow, i had no idea there were books (plural!) titled python for bioinformatics. I have a couple of friends who are biology seniors and grad students who are realizing that they have to learn some programming to do the interesting things, and while i love python i've been mildly hesitant to recommend it since i don't do biology.

I don't suppose you could give a quick thumbs up or thumbs down on that book as a "teach yourself python, with maybe a little bit of help from a (more) experienced programmer" book? There don't seem to be any particularly good reviews on the 'net, and even your briefest insight would be greatly appreciated.
