I Had To Figure It Out Anyway
December 3rd, 2008
I currently have 276,155 email messages archived in 2082 folders, which are divided among 97 directories. The oldest dates from July 2004 (when I last switched mail servers) — everything before that is on CD. And you?
Have you considered declaring email bankruptcy?
What’s the difference between an folder and a directory, anyways?
I’ve got a similar mess stored on GMail, though with less volume. At least I can query through it at lightening fast speeds!
Mail Trends is a great way to visualize your mail if you use IMAP:

I haven’t tried that since last year (http://lizblankenship.blogspot.com/2008/06/my-gmail-usage-trends.html) but it’s pretty neat.
A mere 11,000 sent, 36,000 trashed messages dating back to 2003, when Hotmail Member Services warned me that my Hotmail account was about to reach its 2mb storage limit.
