    I looked at your post about Google’s interviews and comments, and it struck me, combining with Joel’s and Stevey’s stuff… All this is very different from what industry had been, say, 15 years ago, isn’t it? Can we call it a sign of “maturity” or is it something else?
    A lot of people go through these selection processes, and you might see it as “evolutionary process”. What kind of “breeds” it creates (considering that we talk about tens of thousands of people now, not just something like Palo Alto or ATT Labs long ago)? If it is something like Ivy League system arising?
    (I do not mean breeds, like, programmer types and mind-sets, e.g., “this is a data analyst guy, this is a hard-coder”, etc.)
    There are books about academia breeds, I gather. If there are any studies of programmer breeds phenomenon (academic, not viral programmer anecdotes)?
