Beautiful Architecture: Leading Thinkers Reveal the Hidden Beauty in Software Design is now available from O’Reilly (and also from Amazon, of course). Diomidis and Georgios have done a great job pulling it together—congratulations!
Looks good. Interesting to see Tandem listed. We use that at my job and I thought it was horribly archaic (anyone that’s tried to write an enform or navigate the CLI would probably agree that it feels that way).
But the more I saw the scale of the transactional processing it does (and given that it’s so old) it really is an impressive archictecture. Jim Gray wrote a good article about it I think…
Tandem… It gives me shivers. Good idea, but a terrible implementation (especially if you look at the recent NS-series…).
