Good Talk by Charles Petzold
March 6th, 2009
My thanks again to Charles Petzold for speaking at U of T last night — there were about 60 people in the audience to share his stroll through Calvinist theology, the history of computing, and the life and work of Alan Turing. A podcast is available via U of T’s iSchool, and I hope to have photos up some time soon.
I’ve been reading his book in the last week, and it is very enjoyable.
Some parts, mostly the initial chapters, are very basic in my opinion, but it is an excellent example of a book which can be read fruitfully by people with varying levels of knowledge. I think that even someone without a mathematical background can be able to understand it. Petzold surely deserves credit.
Thanks for the link then, I hope to give it a look during the weekend.
