ASCII Art in Reverse

July 17th, 2009

This tool lets you draw a character, then tries to figure out the LaTeX that will produce it. Clever—sad that in the 21st Century we still need things like this, but clever.

That’s kind of fun! I just saw ten minutes evaporate playing with it.

Latex should be upgraded. I want to type ยต straight from my keyboard (alternatively switching to greek layout back and forth) and have it insert the equivalent of \mu

You can use utf-8 to typeset in LaTeX, so I guess only your editor needs upgrading. Note however that if you are typesetting math, you typically don’t want the greek letter mu, but rather a symbol whose shape coincides with that greek letter.
