I've found that Google fixes their services faster than I can fix mine when they go bad. Their service is also much better than any of the opensource ones I've tripped over. This makes my user community (the wife and kids) very happy; We're sticking with Google. I hadn't noticed an outage today, but we're using Google Apps, not the main service, so that may be why.
